USAID AGRO programme allocates an additional 36 million UAH for the modernisation of irrigation systems
The programme will enable two water user organisations to receive a sub-grant of 18 million UAH each

Under the terms of the sub-grant, water user organisations (WUO) that are officially registered and located in controlled territories of Ukraine at the date of application submission can receive co-financing for the implementation of modern resource-saving technologies and automation of irrigation.
This is reported by the Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy.
The service area of one project must be at least 200 hectares, and WUO participation in sub-grant financing should be no less than 30% of the total project budget. Co-financing is provided for works on existing (accounted) irrigated lands or those that have been irrigated in previous years. At the time of submitting the proposal, intra-farm or inter-farm irrigation systems, which are or have been on these lands, must be on the balance sheet of municipal or water management organisations. The sub-grant does not provide for works related to new construction of reclamation networks and environmental impact assessment. Funds provided under the project cannot be used for credit capital or the purchase or lease of transport vehicles.
Co-financing may include the following:
- Modernisation of the pump station, which will be transferred to the ownership of the water user organisation from state property;
- Purchase/replacement of irrigation equipment and machinery;
- Organisation of drip irrigation infrastructure;
- Installation of water metering systems;
- Replacement of irrigation pipelines;
- Conducting anti-seepage measures on open channels;
- Purchase of equipment for servicing the irrigation network;
- Installation of a remote-controlled irrigation system, soil moisture monitoring, greenhouse complex irrigation or sprinkler irrigation for gardens.
It is noted that the above list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented or shortened according to the needs of the water user organisation.
