Russia will give Lukashenko a Volvo plant near Kaluga
The Belarusian Embassy has compiled a list of facilities abandoned by Western companies that Minsk is interested in

Self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will receive a former Volvo truck plant located in the Kaluga region of Russia. According to Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Dmitri Krutoi, the possibility of transferring the plant to the Belarusian automotive industry was discussed between Lukashenka and the governor of the region, Vladislav Shapsha.
"It's a new, turnkey plant. We could easily place production of MAZ trucks, passenger buses or electric vehicles there. Negotiations are ongoing. The Russians, given the level and status of our relations, are ready to provide us with these areas for virtually nothing," the ambassador said.
The Swedish automotive concern Volvo Group suspended operations in Russia in February 2022, closing its subsidiary due to sanctions and the war in Ukraine. The plant in Kaluga is still idle.
According to Kruty, this is not the only empty Russian site claimed by Belarusian companies. The embassy has compiled a list of sites that Minsk is interested in. It was submitted to the Russian government. "The relevant agencies are currently evaluating it. I hope we will discuss some specific proposals and projects in the next 3-4 months," the ambassador said.
Earlier it was reported that after Lukashenka's participation in negotiations with the leader of the Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin, which resulted in the withdrawal of mercenaries from Moscow, Belarus received the lowest price for Russian gas in the world.
