Biden: "No one can join NATO while there is a war going on, because it would mean World War III"
He says that Ukraine will eventually join NATO, and putin has already lost
During a visit to his Finnish counterpart in Helsinki, U.S. President Joe Biden said that Ukraine will eventually join NATO, and President putin will eventually decide that continuing the war is not in russia's favor.

Biden was asked whether the position that Ukraine will be able to join NATO after the war with russia ends will lead to putin's decision to prolong the conflict.
The US president replied that no country can be admitted to the alliance during the war.
"No one can join NATO during hostilities. Because it guarantees a new war, the third world war. The question is not whether they should join or not, the question is when they can do it," Biden said.
He assured that Ukraine will join NATO sooner or later. He also expressed confidence that russia would not be able to "continue" the war in Ukraine "forever" because it would not have the resources to do so.
If Kyiv demonstrates success on the frontline, it will be easier for it to resolve the conflict with russia, the president said.
"putin has already lost the war. The question is how he should act on this basis. <...> He does not have the ability to drag out the war for years for two reasons: I do not think that russia can indefinitely support military operations because of the state of resources, and I think that at some point there will be circumstances in which putin will need to decide whether it is in russia's interests, economic, political and other, to continue the war," Biden emphasized.
In addition, the US president said that he sees no real threat that russia will use nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
Background. Earlier, Bloomberg reported that it was the United States, along with Germany, that insisted on not giving Ukraine guarantees of NATO membership following the NATO summit in Vilnius.
Biden arrived in Finland immediately after the NATO summit in Vilnius. In Helsinki, he held a mini-summit with the heads of government of other Scandinavian countries – Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Iceland.
