The United States is in negotiations with several countries regarding potential routes for grain exports from Ukraine following russia's withdrawal from the grain deal, reports The Wall Street Journal.
According to the plan, by October, Ukraine will facilitate the export of 4 million tonnes of grain a month via the Danube. A significant portion of the agricultural produce will be transported to Romanian ports and from there to other destinations.
"The US is considering all potential options, including military measures, to protect ships heading to and from Ukrainian ports on the Danube," a Washington representative said, but declined to specify these options or inform which countries would be involved, as mentioned in the article.
While this route is slower and more expensive, it could serve as a temporary alternative to the Black Sea corridor until a new agreement is reached, the publication adds.
