Ukrainian banks issued nearly twice as many mortgages in June compared to May – NBU
In June, 527 mortgages were issued, amounting to 754.1 million UAH

In June 2023, Ukrainian banks granted 527 mortgages with a total value of 754.1 million UAH. Results from a monthly bank survey on residential mortgages indicate a more than twofold increase in volume and number compared to May, largely due to the activation of subsidised lending under the eOselia (eHousing) programme.
This was reported by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
It is noted that five banks reported the issuance of new mortgages in June, which primarily financed property purchases in the secondary real estate market.
"The average weighted effective rate for mortgages in June was 7.9% (compared to 8.1% in May)," the regulator reported.
According to the NBU data, the majority of the mortgages in June were issued in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, with 223 contracts amounting to 377.9 million UAH (making up 50.1% of the total volume). This was followed by Lviv (25 contracts for 41.8 million UAH), Rivne (30 for 41.6 million UAH), and Vinnytsia (26 for 37.5 million UAH) oblasts.
Additionally, it is clarified that during the July 2023 survey, 26 banks responded, whose share in the total gross mortgage portfolio at the end of 2021 accounted for 94.9%.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that Ukrainian banks had issued 6 times more mortgages in May than in April.
