China threatens Britain with "tough response" over sanctions against Chinese companies
Sanctions apply to 46 companies that produce drones, missile components and electronic components

On Wednesday, December 6, the United Kingdom announced new sanctions against the Russian Federation.
The new restrictions apply to companies, including Chinese ones, that produce drones, missile components, and electronic components.
In response to the British government's decision to impose sanctions on three Chinese companies that allegedly supplied embargoed goods to Russia, the Chinese Embassy in London "warned" that any actions that harm China's interests "will be met with a tough response."
The UK announced the imposition of sanctions against 46 more individuals and companies from Russia and third countries. As explained by the British government, these individuals and firms support the war in Ukraine by either producing military equipment or helping Russia circumvent sanctions.
The sanctions list includes three companies from China:
- Asia Pacific Links Limited
- Sinno Electronics Co. Limited
- Xinghua Co. Limited.
In response, the Chinese Embassy in London said that "China opposes Britain's violation of international law, abuse of unilateral sanctions and violation of the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies."
"China has always maintained an objective and fair stance on the issue of Ukraine and has actively participated in promoting peace talks and a political settlement. We call on the British government to immediately correct its mistake and lift the sanctions against Chinese companies," the Chinese ministry said.
Background. It was also reported that Finland had identified companies that had sent thousands of drones to Russia for the war.
