Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba called on all partners to strongly condemn the shameful decision of the International Olympic Committee, which undermines the Olympic principles.
"The IOC has actually given Russia the green light to create weapons at the Olympics. Because the Kremlin will use every Russian and Belarusian athlete as a weapon in its propaganda war. I call on all partners to strongly condemn this shameful decision that undermines Olympic principles," the minister wrote on Twitter (X).
Earlier, the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) decided to allow individual neutral athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Also, athletes who have publicly supported the invasion of Ukraine and those who have a valid contract with the armed forces will not be allowed to participate in the Games.
