Baltic states agree to jointly create a defense line on the border with Russia
More than 600 bunkers will be built on the eastern border

Estonia will build 600 bunkers on its eastern border to create a defense line on the border with Russia. A similar defense zone on the eastern border will be created by Latvia and Lithuania (the number of facilities to be built in these countries has not yet been specified).
"Russia is and will be the biggest threat to Estonia's security. The war in Ukraine has reduced Russia's offensive power, but, according to various estimates, it is ready to restore it within two to three years. We have to be prepared and make the price of an attack on Estonia as high as possible for Russia," said Kaido Titus, advisor to the Vice Chancellor of the Ministry of Defense.
The installation of bunkers on the territory will begin in early 2025, the Estonian National Broadcasting portal reports.
First, the authorities need to coordinate the construction with landowners, as most of the defense line covers private land.
Background. The day before, it became known that Estonia would expel the head of the Russian Orthodox Church from the country due to a threat to national security.
