David Cameron tried to persuade Trump to unblock the adoption of aid to Ukraine by the US Congress
Judging by the results of the meeting, he was unsuccessful

British Foreign Secretary David Cameron met with presidential candidate Donald Trump during his visit to Washington, DC.
Cameron hopes to persuade Trump and Republicans in Congress to unblock military aid to Ukraine, but according to a communiqué from Trump's campaign, the British ex-prime minister did not succeed in his meeting with the former president, the BBC reports.
The British Foreign Office confirmed the meeting, which took place on Monday in Florida, and said only that it was productive.
Donald Trump's campaign headquarters announced that Trump and Cameron discussed "the need for NATO countries to meet defence spending requirements", as well as "the upcoming US and UK elections, Brexit-related policy issues, and ways to end the bloodshed in Ukraine".
Throughout his first presidential term in 2016-2020, Trump claimed that European NATO countries allegedly owed the United States a debt of gratitude for spending a much higher share of GDP on the military and that Europeans should meet the NATO standard of 2% of GDP in military spending.
Trump threatened that otherwise the United States would not defend Europeans – and he continued to remind us of this during the current election campaign.
As for "stopping the bloodshed in Ukraine", Trump, in his populist style, said that if he were president, he would stop the war in 24 hours.
Trump's supporters in Congress are blocking a $60 billion military aid package for Ukraine, demanding that President Joe Biden curb immigration across the border with Mexico.
Background. Volodymyr Zelenskyy reportedly said on CNN that Ukraine will lose the war if the US Congress does not provide aid.
