What happened. The Slovenian Parliament at an extraordinary session on March 9 adopted a Declaration on the current situation in Ukraine, condemning Russia's actions and supporting Ukraine's entry into the EU until 2030.

Comment. "Parliament adopted a resolution condemning the Russian invasion, strongly supporting EU membership for Ukraine," Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša tweeted.

Details. According to the Slovenian publication Demokracija, 67 out of 74 deputies present voted for the declaration, no one voted against.

In a statement, the parliament condemns Russia's aggression against Ukraine and Russia's recognition of the L/DPR as "a gross violation of international law."

In addition, Slovenian parliamentarians supported the European perspective of Ukraine and its application for EU membership, as well as the adoption of a clear plan guaranteeing membership until 2030, provided the conditions are met.

The Parliament called upon the Government of Slovenia to continue to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and to support the international community's efforts to negotiate between the Ukrainian and Russian sides.

At the beginning of the extraordinary meeting, where the Ambassador of Ukraine Mikhail Brodovich was also present, the deputies honored with a minute of silence the memory of the victims of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
