The Verkhovna Rada supports the ratification of the Istanbul Convention

It was informed that the Verkhovna Rada (the Supreme Council of Ukraine) supported the ratification of the Istanbul Convention (on preventing and combating domestic violence and violence against women).
Source. This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the decision was made during today's parliamentary session.
Details. According to the report, 259 MPs voted for it, four voted against and 25 abstained. The purpose of the convention is to protect women from all forms of violence, as well as to prevent, prosecute and eliminate violence against women and domestic violence, which is also committed against men and children.
