Only one of four powerful transformers is working in Kyiv Oblast
It takes half a year to manufacture one new transformer

What happened? After russian attacks on the energy infrastructure in Kyiv and the oblast, only one of four powerful transformers is now working. Due to this, scheduled and emergency power outages are carried out in Kyiv Oblast every day.
Source. Ivan Plachkov, the former Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, in an interview with TSN.
Details. He explained that the working transformer had to be turned off to prevent it from overloading and failing.
“A new transformer costs about UAH 10-15 million and is manufactured for half a year. These are very powerful devices. If we do not disconnect the remaining one, it will be overloaded and may fail. One transformer is working, but it is necessary to perform the work, we need to connect the others, and in order to connect them, we have to remove the voltage from the one that is working, in other words to disconnect it, so consumers are left without electricity,” Mr. Plachkov said.
