Five EU countries propose to Brussels to expand the list of Ukrainian products that can be transported in transit

The ministers of agriculture of Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary have sent their proposals to the European Commission to solve the problem of imports of agricultural products from Ukraine.

"We believe that the proposed exceptional protection in the form of allowing imports only for transit to the rest of the EU and the rest of the world should cover a wider range of products than wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds. We propose to expand the scope to include sunflower oil, flour, honey, sugar, soft fruits, eggs, meat, milk and dairy products," the letter to the European Commission reads.

In addition, Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary are asking for the extension of these measures after the end of the regime of abolition of customs tariffs on goods from Ukraine, which will be in June 2023.

"The abolition of these measures can only be considered after market equilibrium has been restored in the border or neighboring Member States," the letter says.
