ISW: Russia will be able to buy ballistic missiles from Iran after October 18
Russia is interested in Iranian ballistic missiles "Fateh-110" and "Zolfagar", the range of which is 300 km or more

Moscow and Tehran may conclude an agreement on the sale of drones and missiles after October 18, when the UN restrictions on Iranian weapons expire.
Source. This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
On September 20, Commander of the IRGC Air Force Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh gave Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu a tour of Iran's arsenal of drones, missiles and air defense. Shoigu also discussed with Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani the expiration of the UN Security Council Resolution 2231 sanctions against Iran related to missiles and other weapons.
After October 18, Iran will have the right to export missiles and related technologies without international control, which will allow it to cooperate militarily with Russia, the Institute's review says.
During Shoigu's visit, Hajizadeh demonstrated the Paveh cruise missile, Ababil and Fattah ballistic missiles, and other military equipment, including a new Shahed-136 drone launcher.
On September 5, Ashtiani said that the Iranian Defense Ministry is ready to develop defense and strategic relations with "all independent and allied countries" after the end of the sanctions.
In December 2022, American and British officials warned that Russia was going to buy missiles from Iran, ISW recalls.
According to Ukrainian and Israeli intelligence, Russia is primarily interested in Iranian Fateh-110 and Zolfagar ballistic missiles, which have a range of 300 km or more.
Background. As a reminder, the United States has imposed sanctions on legal entities and individuals that contribute to the production of Iranian UAVs.
